Real life Twitter! How social can you get??



How come that talk like this looks fine reading it on screen?
And looks reaalllyy weird in real life?

Would you go out on the street and call out everything you talk about on the web?
Duuuh!

And still. The effects would be the same. Words would be the same. The person 'saying' them is the same. And also the same is: everybody can hear you! How social can you get?

So ..... what is it then ???

    Recently in Brussels, a bunch of my MBA mates and I were having dinner. Out of habit, I took out my blackberry... went into Foursquare mobile...and checked in. While I was tapping in the shouts on Foursquare, Paul (coursemate) asked "what are you doing?
    I replied casually "Oh...just checking in"
    Paul asked "With who?"
    zziiiiip - I looked up at him, confused for a second.
    "Oh no...not with who really." Then I went on to explain what Foursquare is.

    Yes, I know it must have sounded wierd for non-foursquare users. Yes I know it might have been a bit anti-social that the first thing I do when I sit down is to whip out my Blackberry and "check-in".

    While I was at a table of 10 people, I was shouting out "CURRY NITE!!!" to the 149 friends online.

    It's hard to explain. But hard to justify either. Is it possible to be over-social online, and on the border of anti-social F2F?
